My last Overflow Message

I am totally pumped up about  my message for Wednesday January 7th, which will be  my final OverFlow.     This morning I was working on my personal purpose statement and values and God laid an awesome message on my heart.  I personally wrestled through it, and then I worked on a message that I believe God will use for His honor and Glory.
I can’t wait to share with you Clayton’s story.  An 18 year old  kid from California was has battled cancer for 12 years. He was recently told he only had 3 months to live, and that over 2 months ago.   Clayton attends Cornerstone Church  (where Francis Chan Pastors) and when I asked the Youth Pastor Mark Snee if I could use claytons testimony he said:

You can totally use Clayton’s testimony! That’s exactly what he wants and it’s pretty amazing to hear how God is multiplying the work He’s started through Clayton’s testimony already. His story is getting out all over and I’m just praising God for the ways He takes our little plans and magnifies them through asking Him to bring Himself glory and praise!

If you are student who attend ODSM please plan on coming Wednesday January 7th @ 7:00 PM.  Invite your friends that dont know Christ.  Invite your friends that are struggling in their relationship with God.

If your parents, or one just someone who likes to read my thinking please pray that God will use the message that He has given me for His Glory.  Pray that students will surrender their lifestyles for the Glory of God.

Search for meaning

Tomorrow night we are going to be starting a new series titled Search for meaning.   We will be looking at the book of Ecclesiastes.  There are some deep thoughts in this book that should catch our attention.  I know that they have caught mine.   I am excited to share the first, third and fourth lesson in this series.  The second lesson will be done by my friends ryan crider and sarah soden.  These two have recently finished there freshmen year of college.  I am excited to hear what God lays on their hearts to share.

Lesson 1- More?  There has got to be more to life than this.
Lesson 2- Meaningless Freshman
Lesson 3- Meaning not Found
Lesson 4- Meaning found

Listen when the Spirit speaks

Last night at Overflow we talked about how when the Spirit of God speaks you are Experiencing God. Listen to the podcast Here.  I mentioned a story that Terri Sanders past on to me and I told you that I would blog about it.

LISTEN: This is a most read article.  It will challenge you.  Its worth the read.   This story is about Beth Moore and how she fought with what God wanted her to do.

Beth Moore is a gifted Bible study teacher, writer of Bible Studies, and a married mother of 2 daughters.

This actually happened to her on April 20, 2005 in the Knoxville Airport – (it is worth the read!)

Waiting to board the plane: I had the Bible on my lap and was very intent upon what I was doing. I’d had a marvelous morning with the Lord. I say that because I want to tell you it is a scary thing to have the Spirit of God really working in you. You could end up doing some things you never would have done otherwise Life in the Spirit can be dangerous for a thousand reasons not the least of which is your ego..

I tried to keep from staring but he was such a strange sight. Humped over in a wheelchair, he was skin and bones, dressed in clothes that obviously fit when he was at least twenty pounds heavier. His knees protruded from his trousers, and his shoulders looked like the coat hanger was still in his shirt. His hands looked like tangled masses of veins and bones. The strangest part of him was his hair and nails. Stringy gray hair hung well over his shoulders and down part of his back. His fingernails were long. Clean, but strangely out of place on an old man.   Read the rest here.

Story Side B- Be Still

Revolution- I want to start one.

Aight so the past two days I have spent up at Camp Mantowagan near Lake RaysTown.  I spoke to a group of around 50 students.  There theme for the weekend was revolution and I challenged them that despite their past God wants to use them to start a revolution for Jesus.

I talked about the life of Paul.  We looked at the book of Colossians and how pauls life changed drastically when he became a Christian.  From a prison cell he was writing to encourage other believers to live their lives for Jesus.  He was challenging them not to follow after false truths but to search for truth which is ultimately Jesus.

The last session I talked about how God used “12 Ordinary Men” and other less then perfect people through out the Bible to make a huge impact on the World for Jesus.  I challenged them to start a revolution by making their lives all about Worship.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col. 3:17.

Being part of a revolution for Jesus has got to be all about Jesus.  Col. 3:12-15.
We gotta reach out and help those not in the family of God to become part of Gods Family.

SO WHO IS IN?  Whos gonna start a revolution for Jesus?

God’s word touched hearts in Chapel

Today I did Chapel at Cumberland Valley Christian School and instead of doing a message like most people do at Chapel I set up a time for students to spend in God’s Word.

The Result- Awesome.   For 30 minutes over 150 students grades 7-12 sat in a gym and read from Gods Word.  No one became a distraction and most students read in their Bibles.  God spoke to students hearts.  It was awesome.

Students have been saying what a great chapel it was and I make sure to point out to them that it was simply them spending time with God and His Word.

Oh if we could just make God our everything everyday.  If we would just give Him 30 minutes of our day to spend time in His Word.

Check out this video by Tim Hughes that started our Chapel.

Love Untwisted

The Sr. High Series Titled “LOVE UNTWISTED” is going to get interesting this week.   You dont want to miss the next two weeks as we will be talking about SEXuality.   Some of the thoughts that I will be sharing come from the book “SEX GOD”.

Some things to get you thinking.

What is Sexy?
         What makes a person sexy?
Is there anything wrong with rating (HOT OR NOT) the opposite sex?
Is sex wrong?
If not, when is it okay?
Is sex worth dying for?

What do you think this means  Exodus 22:16?
